About the Recently Deleted View

Conversations deleted by a Help Scout user are still accessible via the Recently Deleted view for 15 days, unless manually purged. This allows you to quickly and easily restore a conversation that was accidentally deleted.

This article will show you how to access the Recently Deleted view and restore or manually purge a conversation.

The Recently Deleted view is visible only to users with the Inbox: Delete conversations permission. See User Roles and Permissions for more on permission options.

Where to Find the Recently Deleted View

Head into any inbox and click the Closed folder, then scroll down to the bottom of the list to find the link to Recently Deleted

This view shows all conversations deleted by any user within the last 15 days that have not been manually purged.

Restore a Deleted Conversation

1

From the Recently Deleted list view, click in the check box beside the conversation to select it, then click the Restore in the multi select menu that appears.

2

Click OK on the confirmation modal window.

The conversation will revert to the state it was in before deletion. If the conversation was set to Closed before it was deleted, you will find it in the Closed folder. If it was Active or Pending and Unassigned, you will find it in the Unassigned folder. If it was Active or Pending and Assigned to a user, you will find it along with other conversations assigned to that user.

Manually Purge Conversations

Conversations are automatically purged from Recently Deleted after 15 days. You can manually purge conversations from this view when necessary. This will permanently delete the conversation from your inbox.

Note: There is no option to restore conversations after being purged from Recently Deleted. Make sure that you really want to delete a conversation forever before you choose this option.

1
